Can we look at the practice please???

There is only one practice I think our church needs to look at when doing their weekly presentations.

AND THAT PRACTICE IS?????

The way they handle new members joining.

Here is what happens....They pick a song for us to sing that usually ties into that sermons message for the day. The song is usually quite lengthy due to the fact that they want to give the people plenty of time to get down to the front. The songs are usually 4 to six stanza's long and average I would say 3 to 4 minutes to sing.

Here is whete I think they need to rethink something. What do you do when noone is joining on that Sunday. They know when someone is joining and when someone is not. The church controls it. If you want to join you have to fill out a card and turn it in. Then they contact you and schedule a time to come talk to you and your family and talk about the process of joining and the dates that are open.

So WHY WHEN NOONE IS JOINING DO WE HAVE TO SING SIX STANZA"S AND STAND THERE FOR 3 TO 5 MINUTES.

Here is the deal. If noone is joining we stand up sing the first couple of stanza's...the Preacher gives the que to the organist to wrap it up early.....we get our benediction for the week and it's OFF TO JASON'S DELI and the SALAD BAR?????

what do you think....bad carma with God?

Do people come forward at this time as well to accept Christ? Or is that a behind the scenes thing as well?

I remember being at a church one time and the pastor says something like this, "We're singing until at least 7 people come forward....."

"Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling, calling for you and for me.............."
